Shaun Gilyard, PhD
Assistant Professor of Economics at Coastal Carolina Univeristy
Greetings and welcome to my personal website! I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Coastal Carolina University. My research interests include household and consumer finance, consumption and income dynamics, and consumer budgeting behavior. I have additional research published on the effects of minimum wages at the local, state, and federal level on employment growth.
I received my PhD in Economics from West Virginia University in 2024. During my time at WVU I have had the privilege to be the instructor for multiple undergraduate economics courses, with a primary focus in macroeconomics. I was also a research assistant for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia in 2023 and a research assistant for the Bureau of Business and Economics Research of West Virginia in 2019. Before pursuing my PhD in economics, I graduated with a bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. During my undergraduate degree I was the Economic Development intern for the city of Isanti, Minnesota.
